hola lola!
ABOUT LOLA…
Lola Migliore was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to Italian and Spanish parents. Growing up, her family owned many restaurants, bars and cafes. In these family businesses she got the first taste for her culinary passions! She learnt all about the mediterranean and hispanic uses of spices and seasonings, while being spoilt with delicious Argentinian BBQ’s and feasts.
In her adult life she lived in Barcelona, Ibiza, London and Paris, where her food adventures led her to discover local and worldly cuisines. In Barcelona she became an expert and not only eating, but cooking delicious Paellas, tapas and preparing amazing Sangrias. In Paris she spoilt herself in delectable pattisieries, learning to create exquisite desserts and pastries.
Finally, Lola settled in Melbourne. In the most liveable and edible city in the world she decided to launch Cooking with Lola to share her passion of Hispanic cuisines with the Melbourne community. Her two specialities are of course Paella and Sangria, which she allegedly makes the best in the city! Her life quote; “No Sunday without Paella and Sangria!”.
Last year Lola challenged herself to live and work in three world class restaurants in Latin America on a once in a lifetime food adventure! Her main stop was in Lima, Peru, where she learnt directly from the hands of Hector Aguilar Valle (former executive chef at Maido - the worlds 7th best restaurant!). Here she learnt his secrets on how to make the most amazing piscos, ceviche, causas and Nikkei food. Next, she placed herself under the wing of old-fashioned Peruvian chef Raul Modenessi in his famous Plaza San Martin Restaurant - where she learnt all about how to prepare the best Peruvian dishes.
Finally, Lola received a once in a life-time opportunity to work and learn at the world famous Le Mar Cebicheria Peruana in Buenos Aries. Even though she was already back in Melbourne, she immediately booked her flight back to her homeland to learn directly from the hands of Gaston Acurio (from Netflix’s The Chef’s Table). Her time spent in Le Mar was one of the most influential and empowering times in her cooking career, as she dug deep into her Hispanic roots to capture and create the most exquisite tastes of her continent. Lola’s next stop is to work on the tiny tropical island of Boipeba in Brasil, in a cozy restaurant called Casinha Latina. Although covid19 has temporarily halted her plans, the trip is still in her plans!
Worked in Melbourne in many amazing restaurants like Morris Jones, Lona Misa, Black Cockatoo, Cheeky Monkey, Flour Child
Currently directing the cooking academy at Flour Child where she teaches to make pizza Pinsa romana
Apart from travelling around the world and taking over the world’s best restaurants, Lola is a professional Spanish language teacher with her own language school “Hola Con Lola”. She is also a musical and visual artist, huge fan of tacky films, and the owner of Pug named Sexy.
